Jupiter Settling In

I adopted Jupiter from our local animal shelter SARA on Wednesday 27th June 2018, and he has settled in well. So far, so good! He is extremely affectionate with me, loves making biscuits on my flabby tummy rolls (that’s what they are there for, after all!), loves playing with anything he can find, and he’s very vocal!

Getting on with the other two, Ruby and Lugosi, is another matter though. There have not been any all out fights, but a lot of growling and some hissing, especially between him and Ruby. Ruby appears scared of “the intruder”, but in the last few days she has mellowed out a little, and there is a bit less friction between them now. I’m sure they will be ok with each other, given time.

He is fine with Lugosi, except for some growling (on Jupiter’s part) and some hissing (on Lugosi’s part), but they also “talk/meow” to each other normally and Lugosi does not get upset like Ruby does when Jupiter gets too close to him.

Jupiter is estimated to be 3 years old, but I think he is more like 10-12 months, judging by his size, the way he plays, his squeaky voice and his kittenish looks. I guess time will tell, if he is still the same size in a year or two!

Somebody asked what Jupiter’s story was…. well, he was found together with a dog in a building in Arrecife that had been used by squatters, and who obviously had left and abandoned the dog and Perico (Jupiter’s previous name). Lucky that somebody found them and took them to SARA… and now he has found a luxury forever home with free food, free health care, free cuddles and a faithful hoomin servant! 😀
